EDUCATION FOR CITIZENSHIP IN HIGH SCHOOL AND PROJECT-BASED LEARNING: BUILDING A PROPOSAL

The National Curricular Common Base guides teaching at all stages of basic education and uses the citizenship ideas as a structuring base of its proposal through the concept of competences. The objective of this article is to analyze how the demand for building citizenship in schools is presented in the official documents that support the Brazilian basic education curriculum and to propose a methodology for its realization using the Problem-Based Learning (PBL). The article was divided in three parts: I) analysis of the documents that guide Brazilian basic education, aiming to identify the proposals regarding citizenship formation; II) bibliography review about the PBL; and III) proposition of a methodology for the use of PBL for the development of citizenship education. It was observed that the PBL might be an adequate methodology for the citizenship development in the classroom, and it is expected that the didactic sequence might help teachers to work on this subject.
