ELECTIVE DISCIPLINE AND SIGNIFICANT LEARNING: A REPORT OF EXPERIENCE IN THE FULL SCHOOL OF CONFRESA-MT

This article reports on the development of an elective discipline that focused on meaningful learning. The elective discipline entitled Environmental Battle aimed to lead students to reflect on their daily environmental practices, and to provide reflections on the impact of our actions on the environment. This course was developed in the first semester of 2019 at CEJA Creuslhi de Souza Ramos School (Full School), with a workload of two weekly classes and had a regent teacher and three collaborators. For the development of the subject the classes were based on active methodologies that seek to improve student engagement and provide meaningful learning. In this approach the teacher acts as a mediator and the student becomes a protagonist. The results of the course provided students with several moments of reflection on their actions and their impacts on the environment that led to the construction of new knowledge.
