Abstract

The lack of practical activities and attractive didactic material represent an obstacle to the teaching-learning process, generating students' lack of interest. In order for the learning to take place, it is necessary that the methods used raise the student's previous knowledge and promote the advancement of the cognitive structure in a really significant way. In this sense, it is fundamental to know the demands of teaching learning within local contexts, in order to provide subsidies for the elaboration of materials that meet in a satisfactory way the specific needs within the reality of each region. The objective of this work was to survey the demands for Biology teaching, with emphasis on Botany Teaching, in the state network of the city of Sorriso-MT, based on the perception of Science and Biology teachers. In this way this work was developed from a qualitative approach, through semi structured interviews. The results point out a lack of knowledge on the part of teachers of participatory methods of teaching and unprepared for the use of alternative elements as a didactic tool. Another important point was the students' lack of interest, which was pointed out as the main obstacle to the teaching-learning process, reinforcing the need to produce material that supports teachers in teaching practice in order to make the class more attractive and connected to the student.
